About Me

Eileen Monaghan, LMT

I moved to the Hampton Roads area in 2002 from New York City. I attended the Fuller School of Massage soon after and graduated in February 2004. I always wanted a career that would allow me to work with people and found Massage Therapy to be a perfect fit. I am a lifelong student; always looking for another class to take to further hone my skills and meet new and interesting people who share my passion for massage.

I also share my love for massage by teaching at the Fuller School of Massage. I currently teach the Prenatal and Oncology massage classes.

I will always listen to what you want first and foremost and tailor your session to your needs. I believe massage is a partnership between the client and therapist; each with an important function. I strive to be a catalyst for change.

I allow plenty of time in between appointments so you do not feel rushed.

Products Used in my Sessions:

I strongly believe that only the best products should be used in Massage Therapy.  That's why I buy my oils, lotions, masks and scrubs from the best companies.  I do my best to stay away from nut oils.  If you do have any allergies or sensitivities, please be sure to let me know!

Massage Oils: I purchase my oils from New Directions Aromatics.  You can go over to the website by clicking here.  I make a blend of Ricebran, Sunflower seed and Jojoba oils.  I have been making this blend for years and it is amazing!  Ricebran is rich in antioxidents and is great for dry, flaky, sensitive skin because of its moisturizing abilities.  Sunflower oil is high in Vitamins A, B, D and E and is great for the skin.  Jojoba is a wonderful oil that has a crazy long shelf life.  It is actually a liquid wax and closely resembles human sebum which makes it a great addition to any massage blend.  I will also use Grapeseed Oil in my massage sessions.  This oil is very popular in massage therapy because it has no scent and it's very light and leaves the skin feeling silky; not oily.  The other oil I will use is Castor Oil.  I only use this oil on the feet and abdomen because it is very sticky and it can stain clothing.  Castor oil has been popular for centuries because of it's therapeutic properties.  Edgar Cayce was a huge proponent of using Castor oil for a number of ailments.  You can read more about castor oils' benefits here and here.

Massage Lotions:  I purchase my lotions from Pure Pro.  Pure Pro is a great company that was started by a Massage Therapist who was struggling to find great products to use in her practice.  It is a company by LMTs for LMTs!  I use Pure Pros' Arnica Relief Lotion, Hypoallergenic Massage Lotion and Peppermint Pedango Foot Cream.  I love Arnica and Pure Pro's Arnica Relief lotion is a great addition to my practice.  Arnica is known for it's strong Anti-inflammatory properties and it's ability to work with our natural tissue repair systems (circulatory and lymphatic).  It can be useful in treating muscle strains and sprains as well as tendonitis, adhesions and bruising.  I can use this as an all-over massage lotion or spot treatments that I've worked especially hard on.  Pure Pro's Hyperallergenic Massage Lotion is great for clients that don't want me to use oil.  I first started purchasing this lotion because I was looking for a hyperallergenic lotion to use on my Oncology clients.  I came to realize quickly how great this lotion is for everyone.  It is made with Aloe and Jojoba which makes it very versatile.  I use it on the face mostly but I can and will use it for a full body treatment as well.  I have just recently started using the Peppermint Pedango Foot Cream and now I wonder how I could have gone this long without it!  This amazing foot cream is made with Arnica extract, cooling peppermint, invigorating lemongrass and antiseptic tea tree.  This cream is perfect for a Reflexology session or a deep moisturizer after a foot scrub.

Spa Products: If I have an opportunity to buy locally, I will.  The Aromatherapy Shoppe is located in Virginia Beach and I have known the owner for years.  She is extremely knowledgeable in Essential Oils and has been making products for years.  I buy my Foot scrub and Belly/Back wraps from her.  My Face masks are from Perfectly Posh.  Perfectly Posh is a natural based company that says it's all about pampering.  I really love their products and have been using them for years.  The 3 Face masks I offer right now are Hot and Gold, So Jelly and Egg on your Face. Hot and Gold is a glycerin base mask with colloidal gold to brighten and smooth skin and caffeine to tighten.  So Jelly is an anti-aging mask that helps reduce fine lines with fruit based anti-oxidents.  Egg on your Face uses egg extracts to tighten up pores and olive and sunflower oils to moisturize.

If you have any questions about the products I use or if you have allergies to any of these products, please send me an email.  [email protected]
